Yuletide Table Setting

Welcome to the Blog today, Friends. Christmas is one week away.....can you believe it? this month has passed so quickly. I finished the last of my shopping today and will wrap the rest of the packages this afternoon. My Hubby and I attended a "Dickens" dinner a couple of nights ago held at a mountain inn not too far from us. We went with friends and enjoyed a lovely night's stay, dinner, breakfast and a reading of "A Christmas Carol". It definitely put me in a traditional Christmas state of mind. This tablescape reflects a bit of traditional holiday cheer.

The plate stack is a very classic red and gold with a little bit of green. It sits on a heavy taffeta table covering with a weighted hem and embroidered green and gold flowers in a grid pattern. Reds, golds and greens were used throughout the table setting including the crystal and the centerpiece.

The chargers are gold covered terra cotta and quite substantial by Pier 1. The dinner plates and the salad/dessert plates are both by Fitz & Floyd in the Yuletide Holiday pattern. The dinner plate is rimmed in a rich, red, raised pattern with gold beads at the outer portion of the rim. The center is a pure white. Salad/dessert plates have a scalloped edged rimmed in gold beads and a beautiful raised holly and pine Christmas banner at one edge of the plate. The same raised red raised design around the rim is repeated on the dessert plate. They are rather spectacular.

In the picture above you can really see the rims of these fabulous plates. A heavy cotton napkin edged in white stitching and held by a napkin ring of red and green jingle bells rests on the bottom edge of the plate. A sprig of rosemary is inserted through the napkin ring as a reminder to remember our blessings during this holiday season.

Heavy colonial style water glasses in a deep red color reflect the red in the plates. Next to the water goblet sits a wine goblet with a cut glass pattern on the bowl finished by a raised cut glass border. The rim of the glass is trimmed in silver.

Rogers silver-plate in the "Adoration" pattern completes the place setting. This is a new pattern to me and cleaned up beautifully. Found it at Goodwill with eight place settings of five pieces each plus a few serving pieces. It looks great.

Three red and gold trees make up the centerpiece. Found these a couple of days ago at a local thrift Store that benefits battered women. They were a super deal and a cause I am always happy to support. They do such good work.

Love how this came together. You can see a paper white on the window sill behind the table. It is blooming with lots of flowers and really perfumes the air.

Hope you are all enjoying your holiday and staying safe. It seems like it is not going to be a normal Christmas again this year. Still, the holiday season is about hope and love. It's a time to count our blessings and share our good fortune with others.
