New Year's Eve Tablescape
I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas even amid all the difficulties this year. We were fortunate as our daughter lives close by and works at home so we didn't worry about Covid. She came and spent Christmas which was wonderful. Now that Christmas Day is passed and we're looking to New Years, I wanted to have a sparkly dinner with a hint of Christmas past. Accept for the sterling silver flatware....everything is thrifted.
Small rectangular silver and gold mirrors act as mats for the mercury glass candlesticks fitted with white candles. All the candlesticks are different heights and have different thicknesses for the candles as well. The combination really reflects the light and bounces it around the table.
Mercury glass vases are placed at each end of the table. Ivy and green glass beaded picks were placed in the vases to tie in the green of the soup bowls.
A Fitz and Floyd, Christmas Holly, bowl sits on the silver-bordered Franciscan dinnerware with a Godinger gold-edged plate as the bread and butter/dessert plate. Two different Waterford glasses grace the table. The champagne is from Waterford's 12 Days of Christmas. The goblet is Waterford, "Birds in Flight". These are truly beautiful glasses and make me smile every time I use them. The silver and gold napkins were a thrift shop Item and the sterling is Wallace's Rose Point.
Christmas Crackers from the Twelve Days of Christmas are ready to share with the dinner guests. It's our family custom to have Christmas Crackers at Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I guess they just make us feel festive...even if it's only two of us. The place mat is silver and gold bubbles mimicking the champagne we'll be popping for New Years. The jingle napkin rings also reflect the silver and gold throughout the place setting.
This tablescape is one of my favorites.....simple, festive and elegant. Hope you all have a lovely New Year's Eve celebrating in a safe and responsible manner while welcoming the arrival of 2021. I don't about you but it can't come soon enough.
