My Favorite New Breads

This is one of my favorite new breads courtesy of my Sister-in-law, Carole. Thanks Carole. My husband made a vegetable soup yesterday and Carole sent me this recipe which seemed like the perfect accompaniment.

The best part, for those who are cooking challenged, this is really easy to do. The flavor will change with the type of beer you use so use a beer you really like to drink. Have to say, it was really delicious.

You need flour, sugar, Baking Powder, Salt Butter, and, of course, beer.

Add 3 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1 tablespoon of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of salt together in a bowl. Mix ingredients together with a spoon.

Add a bottle of beer. Your choice. We used one someone had brought for a party. It was quite hoppy. Next time I think I would try something like a Blue Moon for a little bit of sweetness. Both would be good.

Mix to incorporate. Don't overmix.

In the meantime melt 1/4 cup of butter and add half to your loaf pan. Add the bread dough to the pan. I didn't smooth mine because I like that chunky look to the bread. Then pour the other half of the butter over the bread dough.

Pop into a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 50 to 60 minutes. Mine was baked perfectly in 55 minutes.

Turn the bread onto a cooling tray. Serve warm.

I served this with a thick vegetable soup garnished with fresh chives from the garden.

Try this one. You will love it.
