Christmas White and Gold Table Setting
For this table setting I was able to use many thrifted items that I have picked up in the last few months. It is such fun to shop for odds and ends that, after a few months, can be pulled together for a great holiday table we can all enjoy. This one starts with a white table cloth shot with silver and gold ($2.25 at Miracle Hill Thrift Shop). A silver and gold rope like runner runs down the center of the table and anchors the decorative pieces on the runner.
The plate stack starts with a silver charger by Mikasa. Then comes a Gorham fluted dinner plate edged in gold. The next piece is a snowflake plate with a gold base and beautiful white snowflakes playfully covering the surface of the plate by Vietri. A small bread and butter plate edged in silver by Franciscan completes the stack. These were all thrift store finds. The napkin was folded into a tree form and placed on the stack. The napkins came with the tablecloth. I love how all these gold and silver plates work together to create a light but sparkly place setting.
It's fun to use different crystal to compliment the plates. Here I used Rosenthal Waterfall that I've had since before I was married and some champagne glasses that we had to toast the new millennium. I really enjoy bringing out and using pieces we've had for a long time. Brings back lots of memories that we can laugh over and enjoy. This season, I think, is particularly important for revisiting Christmas's past.
The silver trees I've been collecting for awhile and pick them up whenever I run across them. I think one was from TJMaxx and the other two from a thrift store. The silver pillar candlesticks I found a couple of weeks ago. They were absolutely black with tarnish and looked awful but for a couple of dollars I decided to take a chance. Some polish and some elbow grease and they are beautiful reflecting the light from the surfaces surrounding them. The candles were also thrifted.
Silver napkin holders with jingle bells at either end are scattered with Christmas ornaments along the center of the table. The napkin rings were also tarnished beyond belief. I wasn't sure I could bring them back but look at how beautiful they are now. It's such a great feeling to bring something back to it's beautiful self and then be able to use it again.
Here's a better look at the silver napkin rings and the pillar candlestick along with some vintage gold feathered birds. They are so cute and add a softer touch to all the metal.
The birds are also perching in the greenery nestled under the chandelier. The silverware is a set I picked up at Goodwill. The simple pattern adds more shine to the table. I really like how this turned out. Hope you dig into your memories and your decorations from year's past to make this holiday season extra special.
