Christmas Eve Tablescape
Welcome all. Christmas has finally arrived or at least Christmas Eve. We always celebrate with a special Christmas Eve meal that we all cook together. Over the years it has evolved into having Filet Mignon as the center of the meal. We do a special potato dish and salad or a vegetable. Then a luscious dessert completes the meal. We have some champagne to toast and a nice red wine to go with the meal.
Here's how I built the tablescape.
I decided to combine three of my favorite patterns so I started with a Spode placemat. Next comes my go to glass charger. The charger has silver in the middle and gold around the outside. It is so elegant. On the charger I placed the Spode Christmas Tree dinner plate. This will hold our steak, potatoes, etc. We'll be able to see Santa through the whole meal and give him a good send off for his trip around the world tonight.
Next comes Fitz and Floyd's beautiful Christmas pattern. It has ribbon and holly on the plate and scroll work around the outside. Finally, Noritake's Christmas Ball completes the plate stack. This is one of my favorite Christmas patterns and is the perfect accent for Christmas Eve.
I tried the matching Spode Christmas Tree napkins in three different places and finally settled on the first picture. The napkin is encircled with a silver and gold jingle bell napkin ring from Pottery Barn.
The crystal glasses are a combination of Mikasa Park Lane and Waterford's 12 Days of Christmas champagne flutes.
Behind the glasses are Fitz and Floyd Reindeer with red candlesticks. The centerpiece consists of a birch bark holder with evergreens and berries. A deer dressed in Victorian garb holds court over the table.
The flatware is Spode Christmas Tree. I was able to get a service for 12 with all the serving pieces as well. The place setting is a seafood fork, we're having oysters, dessert and dinner fork, dinner knife, steak knife and spoon. The set has over 100 pieces and all looked brand new. I felt really fortunate to have found it.
We hope your Christmas Eve is cozy and wonderful and full of special moments as you celebrate Family, Friends, and all the good things in your life. Tomorrow, on Christmas morning we will be celebrating the birth of the Christ Child as we enjoy our families and loved ones. As we contemplate the changes in our world this year we wish you and yours a Merry Christmas.
