Welcome today as I share with you a thrifted table setting that features a really sweet Bird and Birdhouse bread and butter plate as the focal point. This was a fun one that practically put itself together. Let me show you how.

I found these great Heath Ceramics plates this week at a local thrift Store. I really like them because they present such a smooth exterior with great color and no distractions. They have been making plates like this for a really long time, about 70 years. Heath Ceramics are a bit on the pricey side but well worth the cost and more so if they are thrifted. I was able to purchase a set of four dessert/salad plates and a set of four dinner plates. They were in pristine condition, not a mark on them.

These really sweet bread and butter or cocktail plates add all the color and pattern that is needed for this place setting. The black silhouettes of the birds and birdcages with green leaves against a white background have a modern feel that goes well with the stark modern look of the ceramic plates.

A napkin in the same green color with a white background separates the dinner and salad plates. I pleated the middle of the napkin and tied it with some raffia left over from another project. It adds a bit of whimsy and picks up on the bird plates.

The placemat is the same grey tones as the plates and combines a white scrolled left side with a grey and white stripe on the right side. The stainless flatware is also a Thrift Store find. It seemed sleek and simple with just a bit of patterning….just like the rest of the place setting.

I used some Marquis by Waterford crystal for the water glasses. They have a geometric pattern that is quite pleasing. The wine glasses I found today are paired with the water goblets from Waterford.

The silhouette of the wine glass reminds me of the Art Deco style. It’s not decorated at all and relies solely on the shape for its beauty. The mark on the glass is C&S. After some research I found that is is made by Chef & Sommelier…..basically food and drink.

Daisies, hydrangea and lemon balm in a hand thrown pottery bowl in blacks and grey make up the centerpiece. I wanted something simple with greens and whites which would blend with the birdhouse plates. Greys, whites and greens comprise a very soothing color scheme. The simple lines of the plates, placemats, crystal and napkins allow the guests to relax and focus on congenial dinner conversation.

Here’s an overhead look at the place setting.

Everything on the table was thrifted……much of it today. Love when new things come together with old things to create a great look.
