A Christmas Table Setting Blog, Friends, that was inspired by some Angel candles that I found at the Thrift Store this week. Welcome to the Blog as I share this simple tablescape with you. Christmas and gold just seem to naturally go together. You can see in the picture above the beautiful Angel candles that are standing in white high crystal candlesticks. I found the candlesticks several years ago and really love how they look on the table. The candlesticks were in perfect condition and have never been used. They were 50 cents each. I love how they are playing lutes and the large Angel is playing a harp. You can just imagine the beautiful melodies they would create. I found the large Angel in a set of three last year at Goodwill. They were up high on a bookcase and I had to get help to get them down. There is one in blue and one in red and together they make quite a statement. You’ll probably see them in a later Blog. The large Angel is made from some sort of plaster or porcelain and then the beautifully detailed embellishments were applied. I think all three came to about $8.
Here you can see the whole table. I didn’t use a tablecloth but chose some beautiful poinsettia placemats that are white with red, green and gold in the fabric. You can see the centerpiece sits on some lightly frosted faux branches that match the green in the placemats.
The glass tabletop has a hint of green and always shows up as a green background in photos. The table, itself, is painted white.
The plate stack starts with a beautiful glass charger in red and gold. I moved the plates back a little so you can just see the gold that sits in the center of the charger. Next I used one of my very favorite Christmas patterns. It is Golden Ball by Noritake. I have a teaset in this pattern and used some of the pieces here. It has a gorgeous embossed gold ring of ornaments around the rim. The salad/dessert plate is a Gorham pattern that I use a lot for it’s fluted rim and simple gold edging. A Golden Ball bread and butter plate completes the stack. I used white napkins shot with silver and gold thread and placed them on the stack with a simple fold.
Here are some close-ups of the china and charger. I don’t know who made the charger but it is one of my favorites.
The silver-plate is a new to me pattern called Melody by International Silver. The name seemed very appropriate for this table setting. You also get a better look at the placemat in this picture.
I used my Opal Innocence by Lenox crystal for this table setting. The swirls on the crystal compliment the swirls in the glass charger. You can see how lovely the Golden Ball china looks on the table.
I always like to consider the view across the table and this time it worked out well. The “Believe” sign is directly behind the Angels. It is a nice sentiment.
Here’s an overview of the table. The colors all seemed to come together and the elements are nice and simple. The decorative elements of the china give this table setting a little extra……and just think, all this came about because of a couple of thrifted candlesticks.
